Being exposed to so many chemicals in our environment and household products really bothered me, I was a bit sceptical when a friend mentioned she was making her own and I used to wonder if it would really make a difference. Let me tell you, I cannot believe the difference just in my energy and mood from making my own products where I can. There are still some products I buy (like my skin care) but I make sure that the best natural ingredients are used in the products, like the doTERRA Verage skin care collection.
Making my own body butter has been like an adventure, it was such a great afternoon melting the ingredients for the body butter and such an excitement to adding the essential oils I needed to support my personal needs.
When I made my most recent batch, I needed something that would be calming and invigorating and therefore I used, doTETTA Cheer , Basil and Copaiba

Cheer has this surprising ability to brighten my day, whenever I open this bottle I just want to dance and find fairies in the garden. I know that sounds a little bit kooky, but it just makes me so happy and that’s what I want to feel after my morning shower.
Basil wakes me up in the morning in a calming way, it really soothes the nervous system which is great for when my mind starts running through to-do lists first thing in the morning.

Copaiba is used in cosmetic products for clear, smooth skin and reducing the appearance of blemishes (bonus) but for me Copaiba has brings out my inner zen, it has such a strong aroma when you first open the bottle but when I add it to my body butter I just feel like nothing can get to me!!
Now to the part you have been waiting for….
Let’s get down to making this tranquilising body butter….
Ingredients:
- ½ cup shea butter
- ½ cup cocoa butter
- ½ cup coconut oil
- ½ cup Fractionated Coconut Oil
- 5 Drops Copaiba
- 10 Drops Cheer
- 5 Drops Basil
Directions:
- Melt the Shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil in a glass bowl over a pot of boiling water.
- Keep stirring the butter until they have all melted.
- Let it sit for 15 minutes
- Add the essential oils and let it cool in the fridge until it’s set
- Now for the best part…
- Whip the butter with a mixer until light and fluffy (just like ordinary butter be careful not to over whip the body butter as it might go a little harder than desired)
- Keep in a glass jar and enjoy the calm boost of zen and cheer.
