Here are two ways you are unknowingly sabotaging your eating disorder recovery.

Are you sabotaging your eating disorder recovery ?

The longer we struggle with an eating disorder, the more we become defined by it.  All decisions, reactions, choiced , activities perceptions and values are viewed through the eating disorder’s lens.

You are not your eating disorder

Yes, you are experiencing a disordered relationship with food but it is not you

Think like it like this, if you are riding a bicycle , it does not make you the bicycle

Planning recovery based on future outcomes

When I’m thin, I will be happy

When I have time next month IO will start looking into recovery

When I get the right eating plan then I will stop binge eating

When I love my body, then I will lose weight

When I get time, then I can start addressing

When I’m X size then I will have confidence

When I change my body, then I will love myself

We all fall into that trap thinking if we change our bodies or get on the right eating plan, then all our problems will MIRACULOUSLY GO away.

We are lending our energy and recovery into the future; we don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. There is no guarantee that the future even exists.

So why are you lending your energy into the future when you can make changes right now, start believing that you can heal your relationship with food and disordered eating in this moment?
