One assumption we make when we start recovery is the minute we start with recovery, it will be an easy journey.,

Like a switch that you just flip, and all of a sudden, you magically recovered.

However, from my experience, recovery came with a lot of ups and downs, a lot of emotional challenges.

In this episode, I announce the launch of my first book the Food and Mood Journal and I share essential reminders for overeating recovery.

Eating Disorder Recovery Tips & Self-Help

Understanding that my body, understanding the way I used to treat my body.
I can’t remember how many tears I cried through just working through those beliefs about myself, the hurtful words I would say to myself,
 “you are a fat pig”.
“You’re not deserving of love”
“You’re good enough to be in this world”

Those words and thoughts would run automatically through my head, day in and day out.
I had to face these thoughts I had to break through these fears. I had to break through these beliefs about myself. And unfortunately, that does not take a day, it doesn’t take a week.
From my experience, it takes between 8 and 12 weeks to build new habits in recovery.

Here are a few reminders of you are going through recovery:

Essential reminders for overeating recovery

  • Recovery takes time. But in your time.
  • There’s no ONE way to recover
  • Your disordered eating is valid.
  • Recovery is possible.
  • You will always be enough,
  • Your weight doesn’t equal your worth.
  • It’s okay if your body has changed this year
  • Dieting and recovery, do not mix.
  • The scale measures your relationship with gravity, not your worth, beauty, success or willpower,
  • Your food choices do not make you good or bad person.
